Happy 6th Birthday, Andrew!

Dear Andrew,

How are you already six years old? You are growing up so fast that sometimes I just want to freeze time. There are times when you will do or say something, and Daddy and I will just look at each other with utter disbelief at how much you know and how big you are.

It seems like yesterday that I was pregnant with you, totally clueless as to what life would be like once you arrived. It has been so exciting to watch you become more independent and to gain confidence in yourself. You learned to ride a bike without training wheels this year and you also learned to swim – life skills that you will never forget!

You are so sweet and caring and I love how you take care of your little brother. Your empathy towards others is one of my favorite things about you. You melt my heart at least once a day and I am so incredibly proud of you. You are a great little negotiator and I look forward to seeing that skill develop further.

I am particularly excited that the memories that we are making now, together as a family, will be ones that you will remember and that you can share with your children one day. You bring joy to everyone you meet – your teachers, your classmates – even strangers -- and of course, most importantly, our family.

I love you to the moon, the stars and back and beyond …
