Doug and I had a wonderful date on Saturday to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary! We went to Central Market for lunch because we love to taste all of the freshly baked breads and create perfect sandwiches from the myriad of fresh ingredients. After lunch we ran a couple of errands before heading to the Houstonian to get massages (Doug's first!) and then it was off to dinner - Greek! - and a movie. It was a wonderful day and the absolute perfect way to spend our anniversary.
The only down side? All of this "together time" has made it impossible for me to go to the store to get Doug an anniversary card. So, while I went to bed on the eve of our anniversary to find a beautiful card on my pillow, I had no such card for Douglas.
So, since I didn't give him a card I figured that I would do the next best thing - post my heartfelt message to Douglas on the internet for everyone to read! So, here goes, I promise to keep it short and sweet:
Douglas, thank you for the being the most amazing partner in life. The last 8 years have been incredibly fulfilling and fun. We have watched our family grow and shared countless memories along the way, big and small, extravagant and mundane, but all precious to me. And while it might sound cliche, I love you more today than the day we got married. I feel so lucky and so blessed to have found you! I truly believe the other cliche saying now, the days are long but the years are short - and I am so grateful to be spending them with you and our family. May the years ahead of us be the most incredible years yet! I love you madly. Anne
