Out of the Mouths of Babes

First and foremost – if you are looking for some new photos. Stay tuned. In the mean time, look here. I accidentally posted these to my “crappy” blog instead of here.

We love music at the Moore house and while we sing a lot of the traditional children’s songs (Itsy Bitsy Spider, Old McDonald, etc) we love grooving in the car (or dancing in the living room) to hip, in the now, music. Blacked Eyed Peas, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Lady Ga Ga are just a sampling of what is on my playlist and of course, they are also all over top 40 radio.

Most of these songs move to fast for the boys to pick up many of the words, other than the chorus, but they love the fast, loud songs. They refer to "Boom Boom Pow" by Black Eyed Peas as “Gotta Get That” because that is a one of the lines in the songs that they can actually understand.

In fact, Andrew will often start singing the words to a song and then finish the part he doesn't know with "something something something." It is only a matter of time until he starts making up words like his mom!

Well, also on my playlist is Jaimee Fox’s song, “Blame it on the Alcohol” and it so happens that it comes on just after some of the more upbeat, fun, fast songs. I normally hit the ‘next’ button to move to the next song, but it didn’t take long for Andrew to start trying to sing the chorus, namely, “Blame it on the a-a-a-a-alcohol”. I quickly explained to him that he shouldn’t sing that song because I would have been mortified if he tried to sing it at school! He was ok with that and he even refers to it now as the “bad” song, which really means, the one we are not supposed to sing.

Well, we were out and about this weekend in the Mustang and were rocking out to my playlist, enjoying the wind in our hair in the convertible. At some point during our trip, "Blame it on the Alcohol" started and just as we were picking up the iPod to change it to the next song Andrew started singing, “Blame it on the a-a-a-a …”

I was not very happy because he knows we don’t like that song, but before I could say anything, he finished his sentence … “Blame it on the a-a-a-a apple juice.” I couldn’t help but laugh and then Tyler quickly joined in too.

Out of the mouths of babes!

Too cute and very smart that he associated the same sounds of alcohol and apple! Don't worry, Riley hums along to Tik Tok, Kesha is definitely not the role model I want for her but it sure is cute to hear her hum along to it, especially the "ohoh-oh" part! :)
