... I know how long I have been a mom, but my question is not how long have I been a mother, but when did I go from being called Mama or Mommy to being called Mom on a regular basis???
Each passing month Andrew's vocabulary gets bigger and his reasoning skills get better. On an almost daily basis we will catch Andrew playing with his toys singing a song that he learned at school about colors, the days of the week, or the ol' stand-bys like twinkle twinkle little star, the wheels on the bus or A B C's. Andrew is transitioning to the pre-school class next week at school, so I know that he is going to come home with new songs and stories from circle time. Yes, I have a three year old that is in pre-school! Wow.
I am going out of town on a business trip on Sunday evening until Wednesday afternoon, so the boys are going to be fending for themselves. They are going to do fine without me (with a little help from the printed schedule that I made for Doug that details Tyler's schedule), but I am going to miss them like crazy! I have been prepping Andrew all week that I am going to be going on an airplane on Sunday and that he is staying home with Daddy and Tyler so that he doesn't get too upset when they drop me off on Sunday. So far, he seems to understand and he is ok with it, but we will see how he does at the airport.
Saturday evening we went to a couples shower for our friends Kimberly and Wes who are getting married in November. We had a great time and we particularly enjoyed catching up with Paige since she was sans Mikey for the evening. Some of the highlights of the evening were the delicious quesadillas and the yummy dessert fondue (strawberries, bananas, apples, rice krispie treats, pound cakes, marshmellow, pretzels, and donut holes) and the "party trick" that Kimberly performed to determine how many children Douglas and I will have.
Party Trick instructions - here is what you do - pull two hairs from your head, hang wedding band on the strands. Hold your hand palm sound down and let someone else rub the strands of hair up and down between your thumb and pointer finger. After 15 - 20 times, turn your hand palm side up (without touching the ring) and the person performing will hold the strands of hair with wedding ring hanging down over the middle of your palm. If the ring moves back and forth / side to side it means you are having / will have / had a boy. If the ring moves in a circle it means you are having a girl. You repeat this process until the ring no longer moves when placed over your palm. So, ultimately it will tell you how many children you are destined to have and if they will be girls or boys. Douglas and I are destined to have 3 boys. We are two thirds of the way there! ;) Only time will tell if we end up having a third child ... right now we are focused on the two incredible little men we have!
Time to pack ...
