Busy Weekends

The past couple of weekends have been extremely busy and the upcoming weekends are going to be no different! Doug and I went to Austin and back on Saturday so that he could stand for our friend Matt as a groomsman in his wedding and so we could see our friends Doug and Ilona's sweet baby, JD. The boys spent the night at Mom Mom and PeePaw's and hardly missed us!

Unfortunately, Doug and I had to miss Andrew's first T-ball game on Saturday, but Mom Mom got some great video to capture the milestone. Andrew looked so grown-up in his uniform and he loves his cleats so much that he wanted to wear them to bed! Doug and I can't wait to see his next game next weekend. Doug has been attending all of the practices and he is so proud of our little slugger. One practice after Andrew hit the ball and ran to first base Andrew looked at Doug and winked while giving him the thumbs up sign ... I wish I could have been there to see it!

Andrew had a pretty good week at school too. He was green (yes, green!) for the first time in quite a while, so we surprised him when he got home with Pinocchio on DVD. He loves the movie and it has an added benefit -- he doesn't want to lie because he doesn't want his nose to grow or to turn into a donkey like Pinocchio!

Tyler is developing quite the personality and I swear that he gets cuter every single day! While his vocabulary is growing every day, he says a lot of words in Tyler speak. One example, he loves Spiderman, but his word for Spiderman sounds a lot like Mommy. We have tried to teach him to say "Spi - der - man" and he will repeat each syllable but when he puts it all together it comes out as "Mommy". It is actually pretty cute but it has made us (well, more me) a bit concerned about Tyler's articulation so we are having him evaluated by a Speech Therapist in April to see if he needs help. I learned a lot in talking to the folks at Early Intervention ... apparently if a child is not talking at all they would not use a Speech Therapist, but a Development Therapist because language delay is a development issue. Tyler talks quite a bit and puts multiple words together, but a lot of his words would not be understood by someone outside of our family. A speech therapist will help him learn to move his tongue to better articulate those words. The best part? The evaluation and therapy, if needed, are free from the state until children are 3 years old -- and they come to our house!

We have another busy week ahead with T-ball practice on Wednesday, a T-ball game on Saturday, bluebonnet photos on Saturday and I have a triathlon on Sunday in Galveston. I know I have said it before, but the following saying is so true about raising children: "The days are long but the years are short"! How is it almost April?
