My Bruiser ...

Fell down the stairs Saturday night! It was the most horrifying slow motion moments of my life watching him fall and there was nothing I could do to stop him, short of falling on top of him.

Our friends, Mark, Sheri and their daughter Abby came over for dinner and I was giving Sheri the grand tour of the changes we made to the house and Tyler followed us up the stairs. I noticed that he was trying to climb the stairs with Spiderman in his hands, so I asked him to give Spiderman to me and I would take Spiderman to the top of the stairs so that he could use both of his hands. Well, he didn't want to give me Spiderman, so he pulled back and lost his balance and tumbled (literally, he did back flips) down the stairs. I was petrified, I tried to catch him but could not so I froze (I think!) and just waited for the tumbling to stop, and by some miracle of God, he landed in the push up position and did not even hit his head!

He cried, of course, but settled down quickly once he realized that he was ok. I was really shaken by what happened and was just so thankful that his Guardian Angel was looking out for him Saturday night!

Shortly after he was running around the living room and kitchen and ran smack dab into the glass table, although that didn't leave a mark despite the loud thud we heard.

However, he just couldn't make it through the weekend without a new bruise. This morning he was sitting in his Anywhere Chair (Pottery Barn soft chair) and I was in the kitchen when I heard another thud, followed by tears. He tipped backwards and fell and hit his forehead -- bruise achieved. I guess that makes a successful weekend for a little boy?

No wonder mothers worry so much about their little boys!
