Lazy Sunday

I love lazy Sundays ... Sundays where we have no plans to speak of and the day is just long and relaxing. In rare instances, like today, I also get to sneak in a nap. I love naps, but I just don't get to take them very often anymore, so I especially enjoy them when I do get one.

The last several weeks have been really busy and August has just slipped away. So, now for the updates ...

Tyler Update
Tyler is going in to the doctor this week for his 6 month well baby check up and to get his next round of vaccinations. I just hope that the doctor's office is not as busy as it was the last time we were there. It is not uncommon for Tyler's pediatrician's office to be an hour behind schedule -- but this really belongs in an an entirely different post. Tyler is very interested in his surroundings and he wants to put everything in his mouth. He is getting stronger everyday so it is just a matter of time before he is scooting around (he sort of scoots backwards now when he attempts to move forward) and sitting up on his own. He has been sleeping in his crib like a champ too ... my baby is growing up so fast!

I have also had several people tell me lately what a good baby he is -- so smilely and friendly and willing to let just about anyone hold him. I guess I assumed most babies were like this (Andrew was the same way), but I am happy to see that my boys are so friendly. What I am really thankful for (knocking on wood) is that the are both good sleepers!

Andrew Update
I am so proud to type that Andrew is making huge strides in the potty training department. We keep him in underwear all of the time except for nap time and bed time when he is at home. At school he wears underwear at nap time too - mostly because he can easily get up to use the potty at school and he only sleeps for 2 hours at nap time, where at home he often sleeps for up to 3.5+ hours at nap time.

I know I say this everytime that I write about Andrew, but I am in awe of what a big boy he has become. He is so inquisitive, smart, sweet, and funny.

I just love my boys so much - I am one lucky mama!

Major Update
Major was doing so much better last week -- he was eating his kibble in no time flat, just like he used to. We had a good 5 days of this and it was magic to the eyes, but he has gotten finicky again over the past couple of days. I know it is just the Pythium, but it is so frustrating! The vet will not give me any sort of life expetancy for Major so we are just taking it one day at a time. The vet has had a hard time getting the medicine we need for Major so she suggested we call a regular pharmacy to price it out ... and get this ... the medicine through a people pharmacy would cost over $1000 a month! Back the drawing board ...

Despite all of this, he seems like same old, happy Major most of the time. He does seem a bit lonely and Doug has stated asking whether we need to get Major a friend. I am not ready for a puppy right now (I would prefer an older dog) but Doug would rather get a puppy so we are holding off right now. I told Doug that we just need to arrange some playdates for Major so he can get some pooch play time. By the way, he is not contagious.

Other News
We had a birthday party for my mom last week to celebrate her (gasp) 60th birthday. I know, she doesn't look her age! Nicole (aka the cake lady) made another wonderful cake. A wonderfully moist lemon cake with lemon fillng and lemon frosting all shaped like Italy with grape vines (icing) on top and my mom's favorite cities marked on the boot. It was delicious! I just feel so lucky to live so close to my mom so that we can easily share life's milestones together.

This weekend we went to the Texans game Saturday evening and got the rare treat of seeing the Texans win -- and not against just anyone -- they beat the Cowboys!

Here is to a good week and a nice long Labor Day weekend!
