We are going to the airport this afternoon to see my Dad and Deb who will be flying through Houston on their way home from Panama so we are going to visit with them during their layover. Andrew loves all things related to airplanes, so I told him this morning that I would be picking him up after lunch at school to go to the airport to see his Grandpa Mike and Grandma Deb. I also tried to make it clear that we were going to see airplanes but that we would not be getting on an airplane because I did not want him to get disappointed. So, after I laid the ground work, Andrew clarified, "I go to the airport with you, Mommy. I stay with you. You are not going to leave me."
Yes, that's right. He clearly remembers that our last trip to the airport involved me leaving him crying in the car as I headed off for Calgary. Ahhh ... a mother's guilt. I do no think that I have permanently scarred the child or anything like that, he was just clarifying that Mommy was NOT going to be leaving this time.
Needless to say, I thought that it was so sweet and yet it pierced my heart!
