I have used this expression a lot in the past to describe a wonderful night's rest or a great nap ... but having a newborn at home reminds me that while babies look so peaceful sleeping they hardly get what we adults would consider a full night's rest. Maybe the expression comes from the fact that babies sleep so many hours a day? I tried doing a Yahoo search and looking at
Wikipedia to see if I could uncover the origin of this expression, but I didn't have any luck ... so if you are reading this and you know the origin of the expression, please leave a comment sharing your wisdom with the rest of us.
We have been lucky with Andrew so far - he is a great sleeper just like his mommy, so I am hopeful that Tyler will follow suit. If he takes after daddy we will be in real trouble since Douglas is such a night owl! So far, Tyler is happy to fall right back to sleep at night after he has been fed ... now if I can just get him to sleep in his bassinet!
