Once at the park Andrew had a mini break down because he was wearing flip flops and he got sand on his feet. The last time we went to this little playground he was wearing tennis shoes, so he didn't notice the sand as much. After MUCH convincing, he decided to give the sand a try. He didn't love it (he walked with his toes curled up), but I was so proud of him for overcoming his dislike of the sand. This gives me hope for our trip to California ...

Woo Hoo!
Saturday night we watched the movie Stranger than Fiction, which was surprisingly good. It was not a typical Will Ferrell movie, which is probably why I liked it. With the exception of Old School, I am not a big Will Ferrell fan -- e.g. I did not like Anchor Man, Talledaga Nights, etc. However, I really found myself routing for Will Ferrell's character, Harold Crick, in this movie. As Harold breaks out of his shell and starts examining what he wants in life in the midst of the crisis he is in, it is a good reminder to the audience to do the same.
The movie reminded me of a list I made in December 2005 called "Life Goals" on the recommendation of my mentor at work. It was actually neat to review the list because I can mark a couple of things off of it now! My list as written in December 2005 is below, but I fully plan to add more things to it :)
Goals:
- Complete an Ironman Triathlon
- Learn to sew
- Visit all of the Hawaiian Islands
- Visit / Explore all of Italy with DRM -- Covered most of Italy in May 2006
- Renew our wedding vows on a beach
- Take a photography class
- Pass the CPA exam -- passed the exam in December 2006, officially a CPA as of 2/2007
- Learn how to drive a stick shift
- Take a ballroom dancing class
- Visit Australia
- Visit the Grand Canyon
- Visit Niagara Falls
- Visit Greece
- Visit Alaska
- Go sky diving
- Go snow skiing
Saturday we also had our friends Ryan, Tracey and their children Madeleine and Jack over for dinner. The boys went to the golf range near our house for an hour or so before making burgers for dinner. The girls and children stayed at our house to catch up and have fun mommy conversation. Jack is 8 months old and a total cutie. I love that our boys will be able to grow up together. Madeleine is almost 7 and she is a great little helper. Andrew gets along really well with both Jack and Madeleine. I was really happy to see how patient and friendly Andrew was with Jack, especially since Jack was playing with some of his toys!
Sunday was a low key day at the house - a nice way to end the weekend and recharge for the week ahead.
