For those in the know ... the PCH

The Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) is the scenic highway that runs along California coast. Doug has been wanting to drive this highway forever, so rather than taking the 405 from San Diego to LA, we opted to take the scenic drive on the PCH. We left San Diego at about noon and drove to La Jolla to see the seals that congregate there. La Jolla was packed but we were lucky enough to find parking very close to the seals. We spent about 45 minutes in La Jolla and Andrew played with the bucket and shovel that Allie and Marc gave him. He really enjoyed filling and emptying his bucket over and over and over again!

Our next stop was in Laguna Beach ... yes the Laguna Beach that recently became a household name courtesy of the MTV show with the same name (no, I didn't watch it). We ate ice cream on a bench right on the beach, walked through a little art fair and Andrew played on a great slide.
Can you tell Andrew was having fun?

Laguna Beach marked the beginning of lots of eye candy for Doug. Now, you may be thinking that Doug was looking at beautiful California blondes in bikinis ... but you would be wrong! Doug's eye candy for the remainder of our trip were the exotic cars on every street corner (including the Bentley sitting on the used car lot!).

We finally made it to Manhattan Beach (a quaint beach town just outside of LA) and to our hotel. It was getting late at this point and the weather turned cold and drizzly as the sun went down, so we decided to stay close to the hotel for dinner. We went to Target to pick up some supplies and then went to dinner at The Kettle. The Kettle is a Manhattan Beach restaurant with a huge menu that is open 24 hours a day. The food was great, but the best part was the soup. I has tortilla soup and Doug and Kate had French onion soup .... mmmmm good!

After dinner it was off to bed because we had a big day ahead of us on Monday.
