Lessons I learned this week ...

It has been a very busy week because Douglas was out of town from Tuesday evening to Sunday evening. I had lots of much appreciated help from our parents which made the week, thankfully, much easier. However, in order to not go crazy in a quiet house I spent most of the week keeping very busy - so now I am pretty exhausted! I am looking forward to a quiet week next week :)

Things I learned this week:

*I have to be the grown up and kill bugs sometimes (i.e. when no other grown ups are around)
*If Andrew has something I don't want him to play with / eat / etc. I can tell him to put whatever it is in his pocket and that will make both of us happy
*I must remember that Andrew has put stuff in his pockets before doing laundry
*Potty training a 2 year old boy requires endless patience
*When you are trying to leave the house (in a hurry) the potty training toddler will without fail either ask to use the potty or declare that he needs a new pull up
*Tyler is a total mamma's boy (I know, what 6 week old isn't?)
*Dogs notice change and don't like it (Major skipped 3 meals because he missed Doug)
*Nursing, while burning 500 calories a day (a pro), requires an additional 40 minute lead time before going anywhere (a con) -- I knew this already, but I had forgotten!

In other developments this week ... Both of Tyler's tear ducts seem to have opened up in the last couple of days! So, now if the baby acne/rash he has goes away, we will be all set! He is doing really well and is getting stronger every day. He is really trying to hold up his head and the smiles are coming more frequently - they just make me melt!

Andrew is transitioning next week at school from his current class to the next class. The next class is for children that are approaching 3 years, give or take. Most of the class is potty trained (or pretty close), so I am crossing my fingers the peer pressure will convince Andrew that the potty is far cooler than wetting his pants :)

Tomorrow marks the half-way point of my maternity leave. I can't believe that Tyler is already 6 weeks old (!) - I have so enjoyed being at home with him. I think that I am enjoying it a little more this time because I am not as stressed about the little things like I was with Andrew. The good news is that I took Andrew to school this week while Doug was out of town, so I got to see how the routine will work once I go back to work, except I will be going in at 6:30 instead of 9:00! We have also discovered the HOV lane and we love it! I am kicking myself for not using it for the last 2 years with Andrew.

It is such a joy and a blessing to watch my boys grow and change each and every day right before my eyes!

And finally ...

Another Grammar Girl reminder I forgot to include in the last post:

* When to use who / whom ... You use "who" when you are referring to the subject of a sentence and you use "whom" if you are referring to the object of a sentence. An easy way to remember - if the answer to the question that is being asked can be answered with "him" then you should use whom (both end in 'm'). If the answer to the question that is being asked can be answered with "he" then you should use who.

Example: Who is going to the store? He is going to the store.
Who loves you? He loves you.

Whom do you love? I love him.

Be on the look out for new pictures this week!
