Houston, we have pancakes

We got a late start Friday morning and didn't leave the hotel for breakfast until 10:45. The place that we originally planned to go for breakfast stopped serving breakfast at 11:00, so we had to come up with a plan B. We were still hoping to eat breakfast so we decided to just hop in the car and drive to downtown San Diego to see what we could find. On the way there, I was flipping through a couple of San Diego visitor magazines and I stumbled across a place called Richard Walker's Pancake House. Now, surely a place with pancake in its name would serve breakfast after 11:00 ... so we decided to give it a try. I told Doug that if the food was bad I was not taking responsibility for making the decision, but that if the food was good, they could give me full credit for making the discovery. When we drove by the place looked pretty chic and there was a sign that said "10 minutes wait from here", so it seemed like it must be a popular place -- all good signs.

The food was excellent (http://www.richardwalkers.com/san_diego/) ... the most decadent breakfast we have had in recent memory. Andrew started off with a large bowl of fresh strawberries and whip cream and he was in heaven! Next was fresh squeezed orange juice while we waited for our piping hot breakfast. Andrew had chocolate chip pancakes, although he was mostly interested in the chocolate chips. I had eggs (which I ended up sharing with Andrew) and blueberry pancakes and Doug and Kate had omelets with banana and pecan pancakes respectively. If that was not enough food, we ordered apple pancakes to share since that is what this place is famous for and we are so glad that we did because they were divine! It was like eating apple pie! It was definitely a breakfast to "write home about".

The rest of the day was low key because the weather was bad - cold and rainy. I got a manicure and pedicure with Allie and some of her friends and the wedding party. After that it was the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. The rehearsal dinner was at Marc's aunt and uncle's home and the food was wonderful. Fresh mozzarella with sun dried tomatoes and basil, prosciutto wrapped melon as appetizers, salmon, beef, rice and asparagus as the main course and an assortment of bite sized desserts. Yum! Everyone was in good spirits despite the bad weather. The boys were on their best behavior for most of the evening too. By the time we got back to the room after 10:00, everyone was ready for bed. Another long, fun and busy day behind us!
